Baby Nurse and Doula Agencies

You may want to hire help after your baby is born. You may choose to hire a baby nurse or a doula. A baby nurse usually comes to help you the day you come home from the hospital. They usually stay 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for as long as you need (approximately 2 weeks). This individual will help you care for the baby day and night, change your baby, feed your baby, or bring your baby to you to be breastfed.

A doula will come to your home for a couple of hours a day, depending on how many hours you request. This individual will assist you in caring for your baby and can help you bathe, change, and answer questions about feeding. In addition, they help with shopping, cooking, and light cleaning.

Below is a list of baby nurse and doula agencies. These agencies are among those that are commonly referred to throughout the Metropolitan Area. NYU Langone Medical Center does not recommend any agency in particular but would be interested in your feedback about your experiences with any of the agencies listed.
