Admitting & Triage

Our Labor and Delivery Unit is located on the 8th Floor of Tisch Hospital.  When you are advised by your doctor to go to the hospital.  Once you arrive at the hospital take elevator "A" to the 8th Floor and proceed to the nursing station. Your doctor or midwife will inform the staff of labor and delivery of your expected arrival.  Our Labor & Delivery nurses will greet you and assist you.

Once on the unit, our nurses will assess your needs and evaluate you and your baby in the Triage Area. Your baby will be placed on a fetal monitor, and you will be examined by your doctor, midwife or house physician.

The doctor, nurse practitioner or midwife will then determine if it is time for you to be admitted or if you should walk around for a little while before re-examination, or go home.  When you are officially admitted, you will be taken to one of the ten labor and delivery rooms.
